#1: Building a Home with Wisdom and Understanding

In a world where hot girl summers and scantily clad trends for women take the front stage, we see a stark contradiction between the type of women the world  says we should be and the standard that is demonstrated for us in scripture.

But what does the Lord say about His daughters and His will for them?

Let's take a look...

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.

- 1 Peter 3:3-4

Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

- Proverbs 31:30 

A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.

- Proverbs 31:10-12

The Fruit She Bears:

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. - Proverbs 31:25-26

We see instruction in these scriptures that point us to a life that bears good fruit; a life that glorifies God, that invites the hand of God, His blessings, His rest, His peace... A life that preserves dignity and honor. A life that is -according Proverbs 31:30 - worthy of praise in the eyes of the Lord. Wow. What an incredible honor... what a treasure.

The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.

- Proverbs 14:1


Here we see the difference between the fruit of worldly character vs. that of Godly character - one that cultivates peace and harmony and stability vs. one that -in the end- robs her of everything and brings about her own destruction; oh the grief.

This is the battle between the flesh and the Spirit... a thing that will exist in all of our lives as long as we live in these temporal bodies. So how is it that we embody this beautiful depiction of the godly woman that we see exemplified for us in scripture, the way God designed her to be... to THRIVE?


Where does she begin? This journey can at first glance, appear to be scary or even daunting from the pits of our own brokenness, where hope seems scarce and our own value is in question... When we find our selves heart-broken and even scarred from the cruel world we live in. Where HEALING is needed but appears too far out of reach. But when we understand the Power by which we are transformed in Christ, we are able to rise up in a new strength; one not self-derived, but a strength infused into us by the very grace of God through His Holy Spirit. Oh what a gift. 

So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.

- Galatians 5:15-17

Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 

- Matthew 7:24-25


By the Power of the Spirit of God Himself, she begins a journey of transformation; a journey led by the Holy Spirit for the refreshing of her spirit and the renewing of her mind through the Word of God. She rises up with a new understanding about who God says she is, His Promises for her life, and His unrelenting LOVE for her. She is priceless.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

- Romans 12:2 

Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.

- Proverbs 3:13-15


She begins by consuming the Word of God and allowing it to transform her, one day at a time. 

 

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

- Philippians 4:8

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

- Lamentations 3:22-23


And MOST importantly, she has a new understanding that there is so much hope in the  journey ahead and the transformation to come:

...Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.

-Zechariah 4:6


Stay tuned as we continue to expand on the invaluable life lessons from scripture on this journey; as we 'Enter through the narrow gate'.

For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.. 

-Matthew 7:13-14
